First of all do not forget to visit site of Steve Hunt / G3TXQ / .He is the inventor of this small antenna.When you understand how it works it will be easier to make it alone .You only need to follow his instruction .
I have started this project after I build Hexbeam Antenna by Steve Hunt- G3TXQ.This aerial is an excellen choice for an HF Radioamateur that do not want to spend a lot of money ,but NEED small reliable 2 el.wire beam.
With this antenna you will discover that the propagation is on YOUR side. Do not expect that it will outperform a BIG 3 or 4 el .monobander .But deffinetely it is a GOOD choice -having 5 bands 2 el.wire yagi on ONE coaxial cable (20-17-15-12-10m)
Why I called it LZDX-Hexbeam ?
First of all I live in Bulgaria and I want to give Bulgarian Ham,s a small yagi beam ,that only ONE person can errect and NO other persons are needed to assist you in building antenna.
Second I love CONTESTING very much and always try to support them when I have free time.One of my favorite events is LZ DX Contest that takes place on the third full weekend of NOVEMBER.
If you find a helpful information ot this site I will be very glad,AND...... TRY to support CONTESTING EVEN with a 10 minutes work on bands.
On 15 of August 2011 THANKS for the great support from my fellow LEO /OR2F/ who make recording of LZDX-Hexbeam work.You can listen to the record yourselves.For those that do not understand CW I will say :
Leo's call is OR2F ,my call is LZ2SX .The experiment was on 14 Mhz ,I rotated LZDX-hexbeam with a small rotator AR-303.Leo is using GP antenna for 14 Mhz.
Belgium is North-West from Bulgaria .
From the beginning of the record till 00:46 sec. LZDX-Hexbeam is pointing North-West
From 00:57 till 01:17 LZDX-Hexbeam is pointing West
From 01:41 till 01:56 LZDX-Hexbeam is pointing North
From 02:16 till 02:38 LZDX-Hexbeam is pointing East
From 02:52 till 03:09 LZDX-Hexbeam is pointing South-East
From 03:35 till 03:48 LZDX-Hexbeam is pointing North
From 03:48 till 04:00 LZDX-Hexbeam is pointing again North-West
I am involved in Contesting almost immediately after I made my first QSO in 1981.
But definitely LZDX-Hexbeam helped me a lot to reach good results in 2011.
